They were also committed to teaching through the entire Bible. This might require that the congregation be re-educated about the priority of the pastor’s ministry, since some Christians want the short messages – sermonettes. Many do not understand the life transforming role of the Word of God in their lives. The pastor should be committed to teach the entire Bible just Vencedor Paul did. Listen to Paul,

Another area to explore is “How does he prepare for his sermons?” It might surprise many, but there are some pastors who do not like to study and prepare for a Sunday message. It is common for many pastors to spend the bulk of their week in organizational and people related activities and give only a small portion of their week to study and sermon preparation.
The first step of church discipline requires that those who witnessed the sin seek to restore the one who sinned. Galatians 6:1 gives us some guidelines for the initial step.

After Peter answered each time, Jesus commanded him to shepherd and feed or teach believers. Christ called Peter to be a pastor and a teacher or a pastor-teacher. The starting point in any call to be a pastor is love for Christ and not a love for self.
What are the pastor’s duties to a church? From God’s viewpoint every pastor is an elder and every elder has a pastor’s heart. This is an important biblical truth because scripture recognizes men who are not in “full-time” ministry to be pastors too. In fact, any male who satisfies the qualifications of an elder is an elder.
This is the unknown territory. We should quickly add that the same is true for the other elders within the leadership team. The true character of the prospective pastor will come to light about 6 months to 2 years after he is hired. A Call Committee must depend on prayer and the Lord’s guidance.
Worse yet, there are churches who do not know what to look for and so may depend upon surveys and Christian consulting firms to aid their decision. Eventually they hire him and months or several years later, he leaves the ministry. Church members may have been critical of him in the final see here year or months and now they are glad he is gone. He is called a failure. Why do situations like this happen?
